Shaw's Supermarkets Voluntarily Removes from Sale Shaw's Chocolate Graham Crackers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- West Bridgewater, MA, May 23, 2003 -- Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. has voluntarily removed from sale at all Shaw's and Star Market store locations the 16oz. box of Shaw's Chocolate Grahams.

Shaw's issued the recall because the Chocolate Grahams may contain excessive quantities of Sodium Metabisulfite. Consumption of this product may cause a serious reaction in persons with sulfite sensitivity.

The UPC on the box of Chocolate Grahams is 045674 26249. Customers who purchased the Shaw's Chocolate Grahams may bring the product back to the store for a full refund. Customers who have questions or concerns about the recall can contact Shaw's Consumer Response Center's toll free number, 1-888-431-7429.
