Strong America Limited Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Cookie Wafers

Brooklyn, NY - June 12, 2002 -- Strong America Ltd of 1177 Flushing Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237 is recalling its packages
of "Huashengsu" cookie wafers because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled cookie wafers were distributed in the New York City area in retail stores. The product comes in a clear plastic bag with code 2001.11.03. All other labeling is in Chinese.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered through routine sampling by the N.Y.S Dept of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts.

Consumers who have purchased packages of cookie wafers are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-628-6200.
