Sunwell Fruit Corp. Recalls Two Cookie Products Due Undeclared Eggs
New York - January 14, 2002 -- State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers announced today that Sunwell Fruit Corp., 7120 Bay Parkway, Brooklyn, New York 11204 is voluntarily recalling two cookie products because they contain undeclared eggs. People who have allergies to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.
Both recalled products consist of cookies packaged in a red box with a clear plastic cover, are not coded and all writing is in Chinese. One product indicates 9.9 oz. while the other does not indicate a net weight.
These products were sampled by New York State Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors during a routine inspection and found to contain undeclared eggs. The product was only sold in the Brooklyn area. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these products.
Consumers who have purchased these products should return them to Sunwell Fruit Corp.
