Consumer Alert: Undeclared Almonds in Honey Cake

New York - January 18, 2002 -- New York State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers today announced that Sweet Delight of Brooklyn, Inc., 1067 Brighton Beach Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11235 is voluntarily recalling its "Honey Cake" because the product contains undeclared almonds. People who have allergies to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

The recalled "Honey Cake" is packaged in uncoded, foil trays with clear plastic covers. They were sold in the Brooklyn area only.

The recall was initiated after New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors found that the almond-containing product was distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of almonds.

Consumers who have purchased packages of "Honey Cake" are urged to return them to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact Peter Sobolevsky of Sweet Delight of Brooklyn, Inc. at 718-743-5841.
