FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Auburn, WA -- February 18, 2004 -- Toy Investments Inc., DBA Toysmith of Auburn, WA is recalling its 1.25 oz insect themed "Jelly Pops" candy lollipops because they may contain undeclared egg and peanut. People who have allergies to eggs or peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

The recalled "Jelly Pops" were distributed nationwide in retail toy and gift stores.

The product comes in four insect themed styles, a ladybug, a cricket, a butterfly and a dragonfly, each in a 1.25 oz. cellophane wrapped package with an ingredient label and a product number 6398 on the label. The products were packaged in a 24 piece display unit under the heading "Sweet Pops" and were manufactured in China.

One illness has been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the egg and peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg or peanut. Subsequent investigation has determined that the overseas factory failed to identify the ingredients properly.

Toysmith has discontinued the item and ceased doing business with the manufacturer.

Consumers who have purchased the 1.25 oz insect "Jelly Pops", item # 6398, are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-356-0474.
