Environmentally Preferable Product "Self-Declaration"

What is Environmental "Self-Declaration"?
Manufacturers, vendors and suppliers who sell products to / through the Defense Logistics Agency are now able to "Self-Declare" that their products meet one or more of the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes through our Environmentally Preferable Product "Self-Declaration" program.

Products that meet DLA Approved Environmental Attributes will receive a distinctive Environmental Attribute code / "Green Tree’ symbol in the Federal Catalog System (FCS) and in the DoD EMALL to highlight the product as being "Environmentally Preferable" and to differentiate it from the millions of other products in the FCS.

How Do I Do It?

  • NATIONAL STOCK NUMBERED PRODUCTS ENVIRONMENTAL SELF-DECLARATION

If you have a National Stock Numbered product that you think might meet one or more of the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes, follow these steps:

Manufacturers and suppliers of National Stock Numbered products that may qualify as being "Environmentally Preferable" may "Self-Declare" that your product meets one or more of the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes by visiting http://www.dlis.dla.mil/igirder/.

  • DOD EMALL PART NUMBERED PRODUCTS ENVIRONMENTAL SELF-DECLARATION

If you have a part numbered product in the DoD EMALL that you believe meets one or more of the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes, follow these steps:

  1. Does my product meet one or more of the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes?
  • If you have catalog items which meet any of the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes, identify the "attribute" in the DoD EMALL Expanded Description section of the Item data sheet using the applicable definition on the DLA Approved Environmental Attributes page
  • In addition, your catalog should contain the applicable ENAC field entry; an alpha code from the list of DLA Approved Environmental Attributes that the item meets. This code will be used to identify the item with the Green Tree symbol on the DoD EMALL Search Summary page.
  • Any request to add "Environmental Attribute" information to your catalog should also be directed to your DoD EMALL Contracting Officer or Supplier Account Manager (SAM) for approval.
  • For assistance in Environmental product Self-Declaration, please contact EMALL Support at: 1-888-352-9333, #2, #2 or by email at: dod-emallsupport@dlis.dla.mil or to Environmental@dlis.dla.mil

What Do I Need To Know?

  • Only DLA Approved Environmental Attribute criteria can be used for Environmental "Self-Declaration."

  • It is incumbent upon manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that their "Environmentally Preferable" product claims are accurate and in accordance with the DLA Approved Environmental Attribute criteria. Fraudulent, misleading or inaccurate claims may be grounds for removal from government solicitations.

  • A product identified as "Environmentally Preferable" in any Federal System or Literature does not constitute endorsement in any manner by DLA, DOD or the Federal Government. It is upon submitters to ensure that all statements and claims are accurate.

  • Please address questions concerning Self-Declaration or Environmental data in the Federal Catalog System to environmental@dlis.dla.mil
