ELCOME TO THE WEB SITE for the
Southern Research Station. Our goal is to help you find the information you need about
Forest Service research in the South. Please come back and visit often, as we add more
pages, publications, and links to the site.
I am excited about the possibilities that the Internet offers to share the results of
our work with the world. Many of our studies have applications far-ranging beyond the
southern 13 States. We are part of a network -- a community -- of scientists who study the
natural processes of forested landscapes and the effects of a growing population on those
landscapes. Our partners and customers include other Federal agencies, State land
managers, universities, the National Multicultural Recruitment Initiative
at Alabama A&M University, nonindustrial private forest landowners, and private
sector recreation and forest industry workers.
We are dedicated to scientific discovery, to developing and applying new techniques for
sustainable natural resource management, and to meeting the needs of our customers.
Please feel free to contact us about your needs and concerns about the Southern
Research Station program of work.
