NLM exhibitions, tours, and public programs are free of charge and open to the public.
  • Tour the Current Exhibition

    Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians is on view in the Library rotunda from October 14, 2003, until April 2, 2005.  Discover the many ways that women have influenced and enhanced the practice of medicine through this exciting, interactive exhibition.

    • Hours

      Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. (EST)
      Thursday between Labor Day and Memorial Day: 8:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
      Saturday: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
      Note:  The Library is closed on Federal holidays.  See Holiday Schedule

    • Take a guided tour of the current exhibition

      A forty-minute guided walking tour of the Exhibition starts in the NLM lobby at 2 p.m., Monday-Friday.  Special group tours for school, professional, and other groups can be arranged.

    • To arrange a group tour:

      • The NLM exhibition educator will contact you to schedule the tour and discuss ways to customize the tour for your group's needs.

  • Tour the History of Medicine Reading Room

  • Tour the Library

    A one-hour guided walking tour of the Library starts in the NLM Visitors Center (Room 127, Building 38A) at 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays).  Reservations for the 1:30 tour are not required for groups of five (5) or fewer, although it is helpful to notify us in advance once your plans are firm.

    With advance notice, we can show the introductory video "Expanding the Medical Universe," in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian or Spanish.  We can also arrange for special group tours.
