                    M E D I A   A D V I S O R Y

        HHS Secretary Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., will release
recommendations for changes in treating pain in patients after
surgery.  The recommendations are the first in a series of
federally sponsored medical guidelines for physicians and
consumers.  James Todd of the American Medical Association and
Barbara Redman of the American Nurses Association will
participate.
