Purpose of Form:	Use this form to apply for United States Citizenship
Number of Pages:	6 instruction pages, 10 form pages
Edition Date:	7/23/02. 5/31/01 edition accepted, no other previous editions accepted after 03/31/03.
Where to File:	Send your N-400 application and supporting documents to the Service Center having jurisdiction over your place of residence.
Filing Fee:	New Fee: If your application is filed or postmarked on or after April 30, 2004, the required fee is $320. Please note that the Form N-400 does not reflect the change in filing fee at this time. However, if your application is filed or postmarked on or after April 30, 2004, the new fee must be included or your application will be rejected. A $70 fee for biometrics may be required. Fees are accepted in the form of money order, personal check or cashiers check only.

Effective August 2, 2004, USCIS has changed its requirements for photographs to a standard passport-style photograph. Please see this informational flyer for more details.

This version of the N-400 Application for Naturalization is available below in two formats. Each version of the form is identical.

The first is a fillable form. You should install Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5.0 to make best use of the fillable features of this form. You should also read our instructions regarding fillable forms. This form is large (over 800 KB), as such, we recommend that you download it directly to your local computer, rather than fill out the form through your web browser. In order for most users to do this (using a Windows PC), "right-click" on the link to the fillable form and select "Save Link As" (in Netscape) or "Save Target As" (in Internet Explorer). 

The second format is in the standard non-fillable format. This format is much smaller and faster to download (41 KB) but does not have the fillable feature. Use this format if you experience difficulties with the fillable format.
