FTC Coordinates with Law Enforcement Partners to Fight Telemarketing Fraud

Special Hotline Assists Victims, Provides Consumer Education Information

The Federal Trade Commission cooperates with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners in the fight against telemarketing fraud. As part of Protecting Older Americans from Fraud Month, the FTC is pleased to provide support to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s consumer education campaign, “Dialing for Dollars.” Consumers can call a special FTC hotline – 1-877-987-3728 – to report a scam or get more information about telemarketing fraud and how to prevent it. Consumers also may call to order a copy of the Postal Inspection Service’s free consumer education DVD, “Delivering Justice: Dialing for Dollars.”

The FTC and its partners count on information from consumers to combat fraud and get money back to victims. If you have been scammed by a fraudulent telemarketer, please call the FTC’s hotline or visit the U.S. Postal Service online at www.usps.com/postalinspectors.
