Franchise Rule Regulatory
Review
The
Commission has determined, as part of its
oversight responsibilities, to review all its
trade regulation rules and industry guides
periodically. These reviews seek information
about the costs and benefits of the rules and
guides, and their regulatory and economic impact.
To this end, the Commission has published a
request for public comment on the Franchise Rule.
See 60 Fed. Reg. 17656 (April 7, 1995).
The Commission subsequently held a public
workshop to discuss the comments it had received.
See 60 Fed. Reg. 34485 (July 3, 1995).
The Franchise Rule Review public comment
record remains open for additional comments. In
particular, the Commission is now seeking
comments on the application of the Franchise Rule
to international franchise sales. A public
workshop conference to discuss the application of
the Rule to international franchise sales will be
conducted on March 11, 1996, at the Federal Trade
Commission, Washington, D.C. 20580. See 61
Fed. Reg. 5969 (Feb. 15, 1996.)
