  Crane Incidents

The MMS work group's report on crane incidents includes a review and analysis as well as recommendations for improving crane safety. The group’s original 1998 report and subsequent updates can be found at http://www.mms.gov/cranes/report.htm.

The original report’s most significant finding was that crane riggers appear to be at the greatest risk during crane operations. All fatalities and most of the injuries that were addressed in the report involved crane riggers or other personnel working around cranes.
