Media Advisory: March 25, 2003 Second Session of the FTC/ DOJ Health Care and Competition Law and Policy Hearings Begins on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 The second session of the Federal Trade Commission/Department of Justice joint hearings on health care and competition law and policy will begin on Wednesday, March 26 at 9:15 a.m. EST. The hearings will feature representatives of the FTC, the DOJ, the Department of Health & Human Services, the academic community, and the provider, payor, and employer communities. Topics to be discussed include: the importance of both product and geographic markets for hospitals; perspectives on single specialty hospitals; information on contracting practices; and issues in litigating hospital mergers. The hearings will be held in the FTC Conference Center at 601 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. Persons unable to attend the session may use the dial-in numbers listed below.
