The Fair Credit Reporting Act is long overdue. But the notion that some may have to wait 17 months to have a right to a free report is objectionable. To be fair, perhaps all the credit bureaus should only take PAID requests from those parts of the country they can furnish free requests to. We dont hear that the credit agencies are too innundated with paid business. Since it is our info by rights, and they are so slow in correcting mistakes, the delay seems to be allowing business as usual to take place for the cos. Since the set-up is there, let them hire afew more people to help the economy and process whatever extra requests they think they just cant handle. And please include the BMI or bureau of medical info or address it, since again this is our personal and private info available without general permission, to keep an industry in business. In conclusion i want to point out that there is no reason the credit bureaus cant furnish info right now as requested, since they do. or perhaps they should pay each individual for the privilege of using our info. In the electronic age it behooves regulatory agencies to ensure as much personal info can be protected as possible. Thank you.
