MMS Identifies Areas for Proposed Lease Sales in the Central and Western Gulf
of Mexico 2002 - 2007
MMS has identified the proposals, alternatives, and mitigating measures to be
analyzed for ten proposed offshore oil and gas lease sales in the Central and
Western Gulf of Mexico. These proposed sales are
included in the recently proposed 2002-2007 oil and natural gas leasing program.
MMS published a multisale Call for Information and Nominations and Notice of
Intent to Prepare a Multisale Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in the
Federal Register in October 2001, and scoping meetings for the draft multisale
EIS have been held. For additional information,

Codes and Abbreviations
- In many reports produced by the MMS codes/abbreviations are used for
Leasing Map, Official Protraction Diagram (OPD), and Area names. These
codes/abbreviations are listed in this document, by Planning Area.
All Gulf of Mexico Leasing Maps and Official Protraction Diagrams (OPDs) that are
currently in digital format may be obtained in both ARC/INFO and Acrobat format.

Supplemental Official OCS Block Diagrams
(SOBDs)
are now available in Adobe Acrobat’s pdf format for fractional blocks in the
Amery Terrace (NG 15-09), Keathley Canyon (NG 15-05) and Sigsbee Escarpment (NG
15-08) Areas abutting the U.S.-Mexico Maritime Boundary, the
U.S.-Mexico Continental Shelf Boundary, the U.S. 200 Nautical Mile Limit, and
the U.S.-Mexico Continental Shelf Article IV "Area" Limit lines. These
SOBDs may be used to determine acreages not shown on the OPD.
