Historical Perspective

Chief Marshal James Mcshane and James Meredith in 1962 Oct 01 1962 - After an intense riot against Deputy U.S. Marshals James Meredith was enrolled at the University of Mississippi.
  Oct 13, 1937 - U.S. Marshals requested to run background checks on deputies
U.S. Marshals at Pentagon riot Oct 21 1967 - Deputy Marshals provided necessary civilian presence at riots in front of Pentagon
Oct 26 1881 - Marshal Virgil Earp, his deputies, brothers Wyatt and Morgan Earp, and Doctor John H. Holiday, gunned down Frank and Tom McLaury, and Billy Clanton in vacant lot down the street from the O.K. Corral.
Oct 27 1919 - Volstead Act animated the 18th Amendment's prohibition on liquor.  During Prohibition, U.S. Marshals arrested bootleggers and seized all of their equipment - cars, trucks, breweries, and warehouses.

Brady GUILBERTCatch of the Week: Oct. 14, NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Brady “Fats” Guilbert in Brooklyn, New York. in connection with a recent shooting incident and homicides.


BatemanOct 19 -  Travious Bateman, one of Atlanta's ten most wanted criminals, was captured by members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Atlanta Police Department in southwest Atlanta.

Marty BusbyOct 15 Marty Busby, a violent fugitive wanted on 27 state charges arrested by  Fulton County Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriffs Office and members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Established Jan. 2004, the Dallas Ft. Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST) has arrested over 900 subjects. Agencies include Dallas Police; Ft. Worth Police; Dallas, Tarrant and Hunt County Sheriffs, Social Security-OIG, Veteran Affairs- OIG, Texas Department of Public Safety and the US Marshals Service. Recent arrests: Oct 22 and Oct 21

SilversBased on a segment  on FOX's America's Most Wanted, U.S. Marshals, Southern District of Indiana, joined the investigation to apprehend escapee Kerry Estel Silvers involving the murder of Indiana University student Jill Behrman. Silvers is not a suspect, but is wanted for questioning in connection with the murder. Read More
