Hurricane Report: The latest mail service updates

Current as of Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004

Normal mail processing and delivery operations have resumed for much of the Southeast area, so USPS will discontinue this mailer alert message on the USPS.com Hurricane Update Web page within the next few days. For the offices most severely affected by the storms, the interim sites chosen to accept and process mail are expected to remain in place for several months. Any further service updates will be announced on the RIBBS website.

Standard Mailers are advised that while recovery efforts continue in Florida and coastal Alabama, mail volumes are heavier than normal at all Florida plants and the Mobile, AL plant. Service times in these locations may be longer than normal and mailers are encouraged to plan accordingly by allowing an extra 24-48 hours in their mailing cycle. This notice will be removed once conditions return to normal.
