Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District Issues Health Statement
A series of fires burning in the Sierra Nevada have caused smoke in the Sacramento region, impacting visibility. Ash from the fires has also been reported falling in various parts of the region. Elevated levels of particulate matter (PM) caused by smoke from a wildfire in northern Yolo County are impacting the northern Bay Area, particularly Napa, Sonoma and Marin counties. Ozone season ends for many states September 30. Ozone forecasts and conditions will not be available for these areas. AQI forecasts and current conditions are available for over 300 cities across the US. Particle pollution forecasts and conditions are available year-round. Most cities report the AQI for ozone only during ozone season, typically May - September. However, Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas provide ozone information year-round.
