Obesity: Latest Evidence on Prevention and Treatment


The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is sponsoring an interactive Web conference to share recent findings and developments on the prevention and treatment of obesity with private and public health care providers, payers, and purchasers, as well as Federal, State, and local policymakers.


America's weight problem has grown to epidemic proportions. Referred to as the "new epidemic," the consequences of overweight and obesity extend well beyond the stresses placed on the health care system, extending into the social and economic fabric of society.

This Web conference will highlight the value of evidence-based research and its use in policy development, present findings from recent research on the prevention and treatment of obesity, and describe the process used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for making coverage decisions.
