Feature Stories Waiver to Federal Travel Regulation

When disaster strikes an area of the country, federal employees in travel status can be affected. Lodging, meals, and other costs may increase beyond normal per diem rates. In these cases, actual subsistence expenses may be allowed.

Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, and tropical storm Bonnie each caused significant damage. Parts of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi have been designated presidentially-declared disaster areas.

Until December 30, 2004, unless rescinded sooner, a waiver of certain provisions of the FTR is in place. To find out how this affects your travel and reimbursement, read FTR Travel/Per Diem Bulletin 05-2. For more information, contact a member of Travel Management Policy.
