  • Disseminate the investigative information to departmental forensic scientists to achieve a coordinated, efficient, and complete death inquiry

The course emphasizes the medical aspects of death investigation. It is not designed to be a homicide seminar.

The course includes information from the National Guidelines for Death Investigation published by the National Institute of Justice. It prepares the investigator to do the following:

  • Conduct scientific, thorough, and systematic scene and telephonic investigations into deaths that by law are under the jurisdiction of the medicolegal office
  • Disseminate the investigative information to departmental forensic scientists to achieve a coordinated, efficient, and complete death inquiry

The course emphasizes the medical aspects of death investigation. It is not designed to be a homicide seminar.
