This live satellite broadcast and webcast will provide up-to-date
information on the rapidly changing field of immunization.
Anticipated topics include new recommendations for influenza vaccine,
including routine vaccination of children and expanded use of live
attenuated influenza vaccine; pneumococcal conjugate vaccine shortage;
varicella vaccine; and vaccine safety issues. The 2.5 hour broadcast
will occur live from 9 to 11:30 am, and then, will be re-broadcast
later that day from 12:00 to 2:30 pm. Both broadcasts will feature
a live question and answer session in which participants nationwide
can interact with the course instructors via toll-free telephone lines.

Goal
To improve immunization practices in the United States.

Objectives
After this satellite broadcast, participants will be able to:
- List two recent immunization recommendations made by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices
- Describe two emerging immunization issues.

Target Audience
Physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners,
physician assistants, DoD paraprofessionals,
pharmacists, and their colleagues who either
administer vaccines or set policy for their
offices, clinics, communicable disease, or
infection control programs. Both private and
public healthcare providers, including pediatricians,
family practice specialists, residents, and medical
and nursing students.
