NDIC's annual National Drug Threat Assessment gives policymakers and counterdrug executives a timely, predictive report on the threat of drugs, gangs, and violence. We synthesize the views of local, state, regional, and federal agencies to produce a comprehensive picture of this threat.

The National Drug Threat Assessment merges foreign and domestic counterdrug intelligence and information on domestic drug trends in a single report. It integrates the most recently available reporting from national-level law enforcement and intelligence agencies with the most current national substance abuse indicator data from public health agencies to accurately and reliably depict the current domestic drug situation. The report also draws on information from nearly 2,900 state and local law enforcement agencies that responded to our National Drug Threat Survey 2002 as well as from more than a thousand personal interviews with law enforcement and public health officials.

This strategic assessment addresses the heroin situation in the Northeast region, which, for the purposes of this report, includes Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the District of Columbia. It contains findings derived through detailed analysis of the most recently available reporting from law enforcement, intelligence, and public health agencies.

NDIC's annual National Drug Threat Assessment synthesizes all federal, state, and local counterdrug reporting into a single source of information regarding national-level drug trafficking and abuse trends. NDIC analyzes both supply and demand data and incorporates both quantitative and qualitative information to develop a comprehensive assessment of the domestic drug situation.

The National Drug Threat Assessment integrates foreign and domestic counterdrug intelligence and information on domestic drug consumption trends in a single report. It is the first comprehensive assessment, from a domestic perspective, of the threat that drugs and drug-related crime pose to our society. It was produced in partnership with federal, state, and local agencies and organizations.

 The United States-Canada Border Drug Threat Assessment is a joint assessment of the common threat posed by the cross-border drug trade. Numerous agencies and departments of both the United States and Canadian governments participated in its preparation.
