Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) National Team (comprised of Lockheed Martin Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif.; TRW Inc., Redondo Beach, Calif.; and Boeing Satellites and Space, El Segundo, Calif.) is being awarded a $135,500,000 (estimated) firm-fixed-price contract modification. This modification provides for an additional preliminary design effort and extends the system definition phase of the AEHF Satellite Communications System Program through the end of December 2001. The AEHF system provides secure, survivable communication to warfighters during all levels of conflict and is the protected backbone of the Department of Defense's military satellite communication architecture. At this time, $25,000,000 of the funds has been obligated. The AEHF National Team will perform this effort at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space, Sunnyvale, Calif. (40%); TRW, Redondo Beach, Calif. (40%); and Boeing Satellites and Space, El Sugundo, Calif. (20%). The Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles, Calif., is the contracting activity (F04701-99-C-0027, P00012).

Vanguard Research Inc., Fairfax, Va., is being awarded a non-competitive cost-plus-award-fee contract modification to extend the period of performance under Contract FA2524-95-D-0001 to Feb. 28, 2002. Under this contract modification, Vanguard Research Inc. will provide advisory and assistance services including support of research and development for ballistic missile defense; missile defense analysis; modeling and simulations; test, exercise and evaluation reviews; integrated systems assessment; wargaming; concepts of operation; requirements definition and documentation; software/hardware and systems integration; risk assessment; and U.S. and international security to the Joint National Test Facility. The extension will be performed at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Individual delivery orders will be issued against this contract using fiscal years 2001 through 2002 research, development, test and evaluation customer funds. The value of this contract modification is $8,074,683.00 using fiscal years 2001 through 2002 funds. The total cumulative face value of the contract including this modification is $49,896,106. The Joint National Test Facility, Schriever Air Force Base, Colo., is the contracting activity.

Technology Service Corp., Los Angeles, Calif., is being awarded a $27,298,250 cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity contract for 346,458 hours of non-personal technical and engineering services in support of the Aegis Program. Work will be performed in Bloomington, Ind. (91.6%); Vienna, Va. (6.0%); and Los Angeles, Calif. (2.4%), and is expected to be completed by October 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured in the Commerce Business Daily and on the Internet with one offer received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Crane Division, Crane, Ind., is the contracting activity (N00164-01-D-0039).

Delex Systems, Inc., Vienna, Va., is being awarded a $24,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to develop, design, modify and produce training system computer programs for AN/SWG-1A(V) Harpoon Ship Command-Launch Control System Embedded Trainer, including documentation, installation and training for the government of Japan and various other foreign governments under the Foreign Military Sales Program. Work will be performed in Vienna, Va. (95%), and Virginia Beach, Va. (5%), and is expected to be completed in October 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00019-01-D-0317).

Honeywell International, Tempe, Ariz., is being awarded $14,349,822 as part of a $29,403,853 firm-fixed-price contract for the remanufacture of 100 AGT 1500 Abrams tank engines for the government of Egypt. The contract will also include the availability, as an option, to purchase an additional 100 engines. The re-manufacturing effort incorporates several engineering change proposals to these engines, which have been approved since their manufacture in 1994, and provides a digital electronic control unit which monitors engine performance. Work will be performed in Greer, S.C. (80%), and Tucson, Ariz. (20%), and completion is expected by Jan 30, 2005 (if all options are exercised). Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There was an announcement on the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command website on March 30, 2001, and one bid was received.
