CONTRACTS

NAVY

National Steel and Shipbuilding Co., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $406,883,256 fixed-price-incentive (firm targets) contract for the detailed design and construction of the lead ship of the auxiliary cargo and ammunition ship class. Concurrent with contract award, the Navy is exercising an option for the detailed design and construction of the first follow ship in the amount of $301,636,200. The contract also provides for spare and repair parts, special studies and analyses, engineering and industrial services and technical data. The contract has 10 remaining options for follow ships which, if exercised, would bring the total cumulative contract value to $3,751,044,824. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif. (75.7%); Iron Mountain, Mich. (9.3%); Waynesboro, Va. (3.9%); Philadelphia, Penn. (3.5%); Beloit, Wis. (3%); Belle Chasse, La. (1.8%); Kingsford, Mich. (1.8%); Scarborough, Maine (0.5%); and Willis, Texas (0.5%), and is expected to be completed by September 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured and advertised via the Commerce Business Daily and posted to the Naval Sea Systems Command web site. There were three offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-02-C-2300).

Bechtel Bettis Inc., Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, West Mifflin, Pa., is being awarded a $395,971,000 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00024-98-C-4064) to exercise an option for naval nuclear propulsion work at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. Work will be performed in West Mifflin, Pa. Contract funds in the amount of $8,373,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

KAPL Inc., Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Schenectady, N.Y., is being awarded a $137,131,600 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed fee contract (N00024-00-C-4011) to exercise an option for naval nuclear propulsion work at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. Work will be performed in Schenectady, N.Y. Contract funds in the amount of $9,866,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $13,422,593 cost-plus-fixed-fee level of effort contract for reactor plant planning yard services in support of the nuclear powered submarine program. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn. (95%), and Charleston, S.C. (5%). Contract funds in the amount $12,548,703 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. No completion date or additional information is provided on nuclear propulsion contracts. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-02-C-2110).

ARMY

Raytheon Systems Co., Bedford, Mass., is being awarded $1,863,593 as part of a $29,436,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for engineering services for the foreign military sales Hawk Missile System Program for the countries of Israel, Bahrain, Egypt, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Singapore and Taiwan. Work will be performed in Bedford, Mass., and completion is expected by Sept. 30, 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on Jan. 10, 2001. The U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the contracting activity (DAAH01-02-C-0002).

DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY

Burlington Performance Wear, a division of Burlington Industries, Clarksville, Va., was awarded on Oct. 17, 2001, a $6,287,141 firm-fixed-price, definite-delivery, definite-quantity type contract for cloth, gabardine and polyester/wool MC shade 2312 and 2319 for the U.S. Marine Corps. This contract has four one-year options. Work will be performed at the Raeford Plant, N.C.; Halifax Plant, Va.; and Synsin Industries, Pa. Work is expected to be completed by June 2003. Contract funds will expire this fiscal year with stock funds. There were 154 proposals solicited and only one responded. The Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pa., is the contracting activity (SP0100-02-C-0300).
