U.S. MILITARY SUPPORTS AFRICA TRADE SHOW
U.S military personnel and aircraft will be represented at this year's Africa Aerospace and Defence 2000 international trade show and air show at Air Force Base Waterkloof, Pretoria, South Africa, Sep. 5-9, 2000. A variety of U.S. military aircraft and about 115 service members from bases in Europe and the United States are scheduled to participate. The 80th anniversary of the South African air force also is being observed.
Ten U.S. aircraft are scheduled for static display and demonstrations at the air show. Participating U.S. military aircraft include two B-1B Lancers, one C-17 Globemaster III, one KC-10 Extender, two F-15E Strike Eagles, one KC-135 Stratotanker, two F-16 Fighting Falcons and one C-130 Hercules. U.S. military personnel participating in the air show will provide aircrew, maintenance, and administrative support services.
Participation by U.S. aircrews and aircraft in Africa Aerospace and Defence 2000 highlights the strength of the U.S. commitment to the U.S.-South Africa bilateral defense relationship. It also promotes standardization and interoperability of equipment with our South African counterparts.
