FTC Extends Deadline for Submitting
Spyware Comments: The Federal Trade Commission has
extended until May 21, 2004, the public comment period for
submitting comments, including studies, surveys, research,
and empirical data, on the topics that will be addressed at
its April 19 Public Workshop, “Monitoring Software on
Your PC: Spyware, Adware and Other Software.”
On February 18, 2004, the FTC issued its
initial request for public comment and set the deadline at
March 19, 2004. The agency is particularly interested in responses
to a series of questions that can be found in the Federal
Register Notice announcing the Workshop at http://www.ftc.gov/os/2004/02/040217spywareworkshopfrn.pdf.
Interested parties may submit written comments to Federal
Trade Commission - Office of the Secretary, Room 159-H (Annex
B), 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., 20580.
Comments and envelopes should be marked “Spyware Workshop
– Comment, P044509.” Interested parties are also
encouraged to submit written comments to the following email
box: spywareworkshop2004@ftc.gov.
The Workshop will be held at the FTC’s
Conference Center at 601 New Jersey Avenue, N.W., Washington,
D.C., on April 19, 2004, and will be open to the public. Additional
information about the Workshop can be found on the FTC’s
website at: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/workshops/spyware/index.htm.
