Bonneville Salt Flats
Salt Laydown Project

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Reilly Industries, Inc. (Reilly), and the racing community (represented by "Save the Salt" - STS) are concerned about the reported deterioration of the Bonneville Salt Flats, and through cooperative agreements are attempting to replenish salt to the Salt Flats. The Bonneville Salt Flats (BSF) are not only listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as the site of world land-speed records), but have also been designated as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) due to their unique geologic characteristics. The historic features and unique physical characteristics have made BSF an area of national and international interest.
