Hewlett-Packard Co., Palo Alto, Calif., entered into a $25,698,000 technology investment agreement with DARPA on June 15, 2001. The government is funding $12,542,000 of the agreement, with $2,690,450 being awarded at this time. The consortium led by Hewlett-Packard is providing $13,156,000 of the agreement funding. Consortium members include the University of California, Los Angeles, Calif., and Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pa. The effort will design and create molecular electronics integrated circuits. Work will be performed in Palo Alto, Calif. (48%), Los Angeles, Calif. (44%), and Pittsburgh, Pa. (8%), and is expected to be completed by June 14, 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. A broad agency announcement was published in the Commerce Business Daily on June 30, 2000, and 11 bids were received. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Arlington, Va., is the contracting activity (MDA972-01-3-0005).

Simula Safety Systems Inc.*, Tempe, Ariz., is being awarded an $11,110,400 modification to firm-fixed-price contract DAAJ02-96-C-0045 for UH-60A/L Black Hawk helicopter cockpit air bag systems. The contractor will produce 490 UH-60A/L production B-Kits plus 20 spare B-kits. The kits will consist of a set of air bags; a gas generator for inflation of each air bag; an omni-directional, software-programmable Electronic Crash Sensor Unit with a readiness status indicator and backup power source for initiating the gas generators in the event of a loss of aircraft power. Work will be performed in Tempe, Ariz., and completion is expected by March 2, 2003. Of the total contract funds, $4,290,400 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract initiated on July 15, 1996. The Aviation Applied Technology Directorate, U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command, Fort Eustis, Va., is the contracting activity.

Bell BCI Co., Kensington, Md., is being awarded an $8,498,940 firm-fixed-price construction contract to replace Defense Logistics Agency fuel tanks at Naval Air Station, Patuxent River. Work will be performed in Patuxent River, Md., and is expected to be completed by March 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with 60 proposals solicited and six offers received. The Engineering Field Activity Chesapeake, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N62477-99-C-0050).

Raytheon Electronic Systems, El Segundo, Calif., is being awarded a $5,809,196 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to perform a demonstration of a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) System in a dedicated pod on an F-14 aircraft. Work will be performed in Indianapolis, Ind., and is expected to be completed by December 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured under a broad agency announcement with four proposals solicited and four offers received. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00019-91-C-0222).
