The Hospital Epidemiology Service mission supports the unique infection control needs of NIH patients, their families and visitors and provides a safe environment for staff to conduct clinical research. This is accomplished though a collaborative, coordinated and continuous process of surveillance, education and communication founded on current scientific knowledge and consistent with regulatory requirements.
