GENERAL AND FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

GENERAL

Air Force Gen. Robert H. Foglesong has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of general with assignment as commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe; commander, Allied Air Forces Northern Europe, NATO; and Air Force component commander, U.S. European Command, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Foglesong is currently serving as vice chief of staff, U.S. Air Force.

Air Force Gen. Gregory S. Martin has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of general with assignment as commander, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Martin is currently serving as commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe; commander, Allied Air Forces Northern Europe, NATO; and Air Force component commander, U.S. European Command, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Air Force Lt. Gen. T. Michael Moseley has been nominated for appointment to the rank of general with assignment as vice chief of staff, U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. Moseley is currently serving as commander, Ninth Air Force, Air Combat Command; and commander, U.S. Central Command Air Forces, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.

ADMIRAL

Navy Vice Adm. Michael G. Mullen for appointment to the rank of admiral with assignment as vice chief of naval operations, Washington, D.C. Mullen is currently serving as deputy chief of naval operations for resources, requirements and assessments, N8, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

LIEUTENANT GENERAL

Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Jan C. Huly has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as the deputy commandant for plans, policies, and operations, Washington, D.C. Huly is currently serving as the commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region, San Diego, Calif.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Daniel P. Leaf has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Leaf is currently serving as director, Operational Capability Requirements, Deputy Chief of Staff for Air and Space Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
