ARMY ANNOUNCES DEPLOYMENT CYCLE SUPPORT (DCS) PROGRAM

The Army has announced a program to help soldiers and Department of the Army civilians redeploying from combat or other operations meet the challenges of returning to "home station." Deployment Cycle Support is designed to assist Army personnel as they return to their communities, reunite with families and loved ones, and re-establish the readiness of the force.

To facilitate a smooth transition, soldiers and civilians will participate in a number of classes, discussions and assessments. Beginning in theater and continuing at home station or at demobilization stations, soldiers will receive information on maintaining individual well-being. They will prepare for returning to spouses and families, and will receive information on health care and other agencies that will provide assistance once they return home. Based on individual assessments, soldiers and civilians will participate in additional follow-up assistance as needed.

"The Army has always prided itself on accomplishing the mission while taking care of its soldiers and their families. As America's sons and daughters return from worldwide deployments, we want to help soldiers reintegrate with their loved ones, families and communities. We have implemented a new program - Deployment Cycle Support - and improved other existing programs to provide resources to help ease their transition. Redeploying soldiers, civilians and their families will have access to programs and people to help with personal well-being, family health and reintegration with the community as a whole," said the Army's Director of Human Resources, Brig. Gen. Steven P. Schook.
