Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz are in Washington today. There are no media or public events on their schedules.

Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaks this morning at the "Supporting the Military Child" conference in Tampa, Fla. See the conference web page for details.

Congressman Henry J. Hyde, chairman of the House International Relations Committee, speaks today at 10 a. m. EDT at a graduation ceremony at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation at Fort Benning, Ga. See the news release for details. [link no longer available]

Lt. Gen. Ronald T. Kadish, director of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization, will conduct a press briefing on the restructured missile defense program and testing plan today at 1:30 p.m. EDT in the DoD briefing room, Pentagon 2E781. See the press advisory for details.

The next regular Department of Defense news briefing will be conducted Tuesday, July 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the DoD briefing room, Pentagon 2E781. The briefer will be Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for public affairs.
