Policy Federal Regulations Policy Overview

GSA is responsible for carrying out the policy and regulatory functions assigned to GSA by Congress, and exercises GSA’s authority as one of the central management agencies of the federal government. GSA collaborates with customer agencies and stakeholders to develop policies for the implementation of federal laws, executive orders and other executive branch guidance.

Through the issuance of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the Federal Management Regulations (FMR), the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR), and other guidelines for the management of property, technology and administrative services, GSA provides a governmentwide policy framework that affords agencies the flexibility to accomplish their missions in the most effective manner.
