Real Property Achievement Award

GSA's Achievement Award for Real Property Innovation was established in 1997 to honor the best real property policy and practices by federal workers. This is part of GSA's commitment to continually improve responsible management of the federal government's real property assets.

All federal government employees and members of the armed forces are eligible to enter. Civilian contractors and employees of GSA's Office of Governmentwide Policy are ineligible.

Many professionals, governmentwide, complete tasks every day using innovative real estate and workplace development practices or polices. Read more about best practices on the "Best Practices" webpage.

The Innovation Award Program recognizes outstanding accomplishments in three categories:  best innovative policy, best innovative practice, and adopted best practice.  Innovations may cover any real property related area from real property management to acquisition, construction, sustainable development, renovation, disposal, security, planning, integrated workplace, telework, and others.

Winners receive cash prizes of $10,000 for a team of 2 or more, or $5,000 for an individual, for best innovative policy or practice, and adopted best practice.

Agencies may submit entries for the best innovative policy or practice for the 2004 Award Program by visiting the 2004 Call for Entries page.

This award program has captured many federal best practices and policies. GSA would like to share them with other agencies that can adopt them through the "Adopt-a-Practice" initiative.

In this way, agencies help each other. They learn from one another how to improve asset management, encourage sustainable development, develop better workplaces, and many other objectives, leading to a more effective, efficient, business-like government.

Check out the practices and policy included here from the award program, adopt one, and make the agency’s asset management program work better. After adopting a practice or policy, federal employees are eligible to submit an entry for GSA's "Adopt-a-Practice" award. Entries may be submitted year round for this award.
