DOE, USDA Resources

In addition to the Biomass Program Document Database (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) and the Bioenergy Feedstock Development Program Bibliography (Oak Ridge National Laboratory), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) provides several Web resources for finding articles by Biomass Program researchers and other articles relevant to biofuels:

DOE's Information Bridge provides full text of most reports produced by DOE and its laboratories and contractors since 1995.

Energy Citations Database allows you to search citations for energy-related report literature, conference papers, journal articles, books, dissertations, and patents, from 1948 to the present. This includes outside sources as well as DOE.

DOE's E-Print Network is a searchable gateway to preprint servers from other federal agencies, scientific societies, colleges and universities, and other organizations that deal with scientific and technical disciplines of concern to DOE. Many of these provide full text of articles as they were submitted to journals.

U.S Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service and Agricultural Research Service's National Agricultural Library reports are accessible on their respective Web sites.

Journal and Other Articles

Journal of Industrial Ecology Special Issue on Biobased Products

Can't find it? Your library will be your most reliable source for commercial publication material, but increasingly publishers of journals relevant to biofuels are posting or selling articles or at least citations or abstracts on the Web.

Ingenta provides free online searching across a wide variety of publishers and journals—including most of those of interest to biofuels research—and makes full text articles available for purchase.

Many individual publishers of journals covering biofuels have Web sites that allow users to search for citations or abstracts of articles from their journals. Some of these sites provide full-text articles after a specified amount of time and others give users the opportunity to purchase full-text articles. Publishers of interest include American Chemical Society, Highwire Press, and Humana Press. Elsevier Science's Scirus search engine will search Web sites, as well as Elsevier Science journals, but provides articles only through its ScienceDirect subscription service.

Publishers of some of the journals in which Biomass Program-authored articles have been published include:

American Chemical Society

  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology Progress
  • Energy and Fuels

Elsevier Press

  • Biomass and Bioenergy
  • Renewable Energy
  • Biomass Conferences of the Americas

Humana Press

  • Symposia on Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals

Kluwer

  • Biotechnology Letters
  • Transgenic Research
