GSA is proceeding to advertise for A/E services for the new Federal Building-Courthouse to be constructed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  The A-E selection process is expected to take approximately five months and the project will be awarded once Congressional authority is granted. The city and their respective contractors met with GSA on July 7 and presented several options for a potential site.  Both parties are committed to meeting all historic preservation and environmental impact requirements prior to site selection.

GSA is proceeding with site acquisition, relocation and design of an annex to the U.S. Court of Appeals Building in Atlanta, Georgia.  The region is in the process of evaluating the feasibility and scope of rehabilitating the two buildings to be acquired into a single structure and new construction of a loading dock, secure parking, and a tunnel connector to the existing Courthouse.  It is anticipated that the A/E will be selected by mid-September 2004.
