a•pha•sia (uh-fay'-zhuh) n. An impairment of the ability to use or comprehend words, usually acquired as a result of a stroke or other brain injury.

The National Aphasia Association, NAA, is a nonprofit organization that promotes public education, research, rehabilitation and support services to assist people with aphasia and their families.

The NAA has been accepted into the Fall 2004 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The CFC is the annual fund-raising drive conducted by Federal employees in their workplace each fall. Federal employees and military personnel may designate the NAA as the beneficiary of charitable gifts that are made through payroll deductions. The identification number for the NAA is 0239.

The National Aphasia Association is seeking Co-Sponsors for SPEAKING OUT! 2006. Final proposals due by Dec 31, 2004.
