MESSAGE FROM THE REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR

The Great Lakes Region is currently implementing the nationwide GSA “Get It Right” plan.

This plan calls for GSA to proactively supervise the proper use of its contracting vehicles and services to guarantee best value for both federal agencies and the American taxpayer.  “Get It Right” provides GSA with a consistent, rigorous system for checking compliance with federal regulations and keeping our customer agencies, industry partners and GSA’s contracting workforce fully informed.

The major objectives of the “Get It Right” plan are to:

  • Ensure compliance with federal contracting regulations.
  • Make contracting policies and procedures clear and explicit.
  • Ensure the integrity of GSA contract vehicles and services.
  • Improve marketplace competition when GSA contract vehicles and services are used.
  • Improve transparency relating to how GSA contract vehicles and services are used.
  • Ensure best value for taxpayer dollars when GSA contract vehicles or services are used.

As we work to implement this plan and gather feedback, we will identify any existing gaps and take specific actions to eliminate those gaps in our drive to achieve excellence in acquisition.

Acquisition is at the core of the work GSA performs.  Implementation of the “Get It Right” plan demonstrates our determination to maintain the trust of our federal customers, federal regulators, the Congress and taxpayers.

Sincerely,

James C. Handley

Regional Administrator
