Severe Weather Report Form |
If the event is occurring now, please first try to call (850) 942-8833 with your report, especially in the case of possible tornadic activity, so that we may warn of the severe weather immediately. You can also call your local emergency services or law enforcement agency and ask them to relay the report to us.
If you live within our County Warning & Forecast Area, we welcome your reports of severe weather. Storm reports from the public can be very important! They are often used to corroborate information we see on the Doppler radar.
After an event, we still need detailed reports of damage. You can help us compile our severe weather reports by
submitting reports that meet the offical National Weather Service severe weather criteria as outlined below:
- Hail of 3/4-inch diameter (dime size) or larger.
- Wind gusts in excess of 58 mph (50 knots). Indicate whether winds were measured or estimated by the observer.
- A tornado, waterspout or funnel cloud. Please indicate whether or not the circulation is reaching the ground.
- Flash flooding, especially if water is flowing over a road or highway or damage to property is occurring or imminent.
- Damage to trees or structures such as houses, buildings, barns, cars, and power lines (Please be as specific as possible, by giving the diameter of the limbs, trees, etc.)
