Washington, DC – Congressman Randy Neugebauer announced Wednesday that Ryan Beall of Big Spring received an appointment offer to the United States Naval Academy.

Ryan, the son of Nolan and Linda Beall, is currently a senior at Big Spring High School.

Ryan has participated in the Marching and Honor bands for the last 4 years, and has been recognized numerous times for his talents.  He is a member of the Spanish club and is actively involved in his church group.  A member of the student council, Ryan was council chairperson for one year.  Some of his many other interests include theater, swimming, taekwondo, and web maintenance.  In addition to all his extra-curricular activities, Ryan has a 4.0 Grade Point Average and is ranked second in his class.

“Ryan has worked hard and proven himself in both school and athletics.  I trust he will make West Texas proud at the Naval Academy,” said Neugebauer “I hope to bring Ryan back to West Texas when he finishes his naval career.  I have no doubt that he will do great things in the years to come.”

Military service academies require an above-average academic record, good physical condition and above average strength, endurance, and agility.  The academies evaluate nominations from Congress, and then offer appointments based on the students’ merits.

Applications for military services academy nominations are available on Congressman Neugebauer’s website at www.house.gov/neugebauer or by contacting Mary Whistler in the Neugebauer Lubbock office at 888-763-1611.
