James C. Handley has served as GSA's Regional Administrator for the Great Lakes Region since June 14, 2001.

Handley's career spans more than 20 years in government relations in the private and public sectors. He has served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture; Administrator of the Agricultural Marketing Service; and as Regional Administrator for GSA's National Capital Region (NCR). He guided NCR through an extensive building expansion initiative and implemented the agency's strategic planning and total quality management processes. Prior to rejoining GSA, Handley directed government affairs in the Washington office of GTECH Corporation.

Handley is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in business marketing.

James Handley is the father of four daughters and the grandfather of three girls and a boy
