The National Archives Experience

August 21, 2003

The Foundation for the National Archives thanks the many people nationwide who are expressing their patriotism and their belief in American democracy and ideals.

Your support through membership in the Foundation happens at a critical time in our nation’s history and a momentous time for the National Archives. Next September the Charters of Freedom — our country’s Declaration of Independence, all four pages of the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights — will be reinstalled in the Rotunda of the historic National Archives Building.

With your support, the opening on September 17, 2003 will mark the beginning of a new National Archives Experience — an opportunity to share the message — that the Archives is the keeper and protector of the foundations of our nation’s democracy.

Our continuing thanks to members whose generosity during the renovation made the restoration of the murals and the re-encasement of the Charters of Freedom in the Rotunda possible. The Charles Guggenheim Center for Documentary Films

With the passing in October 2002 of Charles Guggenheim, President Emeritus of the Foundation for the National Archives, the Guggenheim Family inaugurated a special fund for the Charles Guggenheim Center for Documentary Film. The proceeds of this fund will be used to create a premier venue for documentary films.
