I/UCRC Annual Report Guidelines

Five-Year Award Renewal Requests

Renewal proposals are due to NSF no later than March 31. Renewal requests are required from centers in their fifth year that are requesting another 5-year award from NSF. These requests consist of four elements:

  • Mail or FastLane submission of a Renewal Proposal (be sure to include information on the outcomes of the previous five years of NSF support) – one per each center requesting renewal
  • Email or mail submission of the Evaluator's Report – one per each center requesting renewal
  • Web-based submission of the Quantitative Information – one per each center requesting renewal
  • Email or mail submission of the Membership Fee Certification – one per each institution requesting NSF support for participation in the center

Continued Funding Requests (CGI)

Each Center in the I/UCRC Program that is requesting continued funding on an existing NSF award is required to submit an annual report on progress and plans 90 days prior to the NSF award date. The report consists of four parts:

  • FastLane submission of a Project Report – one per each institution receiving an NSF award for participation in the center (the same report should be submitted by each institution in the center)
  • Email or mail submission of the Evaluator's Report – one per each center
  • Web-based submission of the Quantitative Information – one per each center
  • Email or mail submission of the Membership Fee Certification – one per each institution receiving an NSF award for participation in the center

FastLane Submission of a Project Report for CGIs

Each institution receiving NSF support MUST submit a Project Report via FastLane in order to receive the next increment of the award. However, the content of the report should be the same for each institution participating in a given center, with only the PI and award number changing with the submission from each institution.

    FastLane Project Report submission instructions:

1)Go to the FastLane web site at https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/. You can also access this web site via a link on the main NSF web site (http://www.nsf.gov).

2)Choose the "Project Reports System" link on the FastLane home page.

3)Log in to the Project Reports System.

4)Click on the click on "Annual Project Report" button (after ensuring the dates are correct).

5)Prepare each section of the report using the links in the left-most box.

    6)Submit the report.

Evaluator's Report

The evaluator's report, which is to be completed by the Center evaluator, should be emailed or mailed to Alex Schwarzkopf or Greg Misiorek. Email: aschwarz@nsf.govor gmisiore@nsf.gov

    Mail: The I/UCRC Program
    National Science Foundation
    4201 Wilson Blvd., Suite 585
    Arlington, VA 22230

This report should follow the format outlined in the Evaluator's Handbook (under the abbreviated Historical Profile Instrument, revised in June 1996).

Quantitative Information

The quantitative information table should be based on data relating to the most recently completed fiscal year for the Center. These data should be submitted via the web site at http://www.qrc.com/nsf/eng/iucrc/login.htm. Contact Greg Misiorek at gmisiore@nsf.gov to receive a password for your center.

Membership Fee Certification

A list of cash Center membership fees received in the most recently completed fiscal year must be submitted by each institution receiving I/UCRC funding directly from NSF. This list must either be emailed from the institution's sponsored programs office or signed by an Authorized Institutional Representative and mailed
