Travel Management Centers (TMCs) provide customized travel agency services to meet an agency's unique requirements. The agency controls the quality and cost of travel by comparing services and choosing the TMC contractor.

GSA saves the government and taxpayers millions of dollars annually by providing services for federal agencies worldwide through its discounted programs and contracted TMCs. GSA uses its leverage from a centralized approach to obtain airfare and lodging discounts which result in greater savings than if the agencies procured for these services on an individual basis. The TMCs shift the administrative burden of arranging travel services from federal agency in-house staff to contracted commercial travel agents. TMCs provide travelers with one-stop shopping for discount airline, bus, rail, hotel, and car rental services that result in significant savings.

With the award of master contracts for travel management services, the agency has the flexibility to determine requirements, select a contractor, and award a task order for the services required to meet the agency's travel needs. Federal agencies must have a task order in place to receive travel management services under the new contracts.
