Environmental Planning/Analysis
|
Introduction
The Environmental Analysis Group works to help Bonneville abide by the National
Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other legal guidance that was passed
to help protect the environment and to make sure that the public is informed and
involved in important Federal business decisions. Our work supports the Transmission
and Power Business lines; the Environment, Fish and Wildlife Group; as well as other
parts of the agency. Work done by the Environmental Analysis Group influences those who
plan and decide Bonneville's future--both for the immediate years and for the long haul.
Our scientists and analysts help design Bonneville projects by making sure the environment
is taken into account from the earliest stages of planning. As a part of planning,
they assess the potential impacts on air, water, wetlands, endangered species,
cultural resources, the social environment, and other resources. They also propose ways to
lessen or eliminate the impacts through mitigation. All these actions are carried out
with the involvement of the public.
