China Map, Pinyin Edition
is a one-page multicolored Map which incorporates the new Pinyin (phonetic
alphabet) spelling of names that became effective on 1 January 1979.
The gazetteer on the reverse side of the Map includes both the Pinyin
and Wade-Giles renditions of geographic names. Most linear. spot location
and name data were computer generated and plotted by the the CIA's Cartographic
Automated Mapping Program and World Data Bank II. 1979. 34 x 40 in.
Cartographic Automatic Mapping

Code (ALC) program that performs a wide variety of cartographic functions

Relational World Data Bank
II (RWDB2). This regularly updated data file is a global digital representation
of cartographic features of the world for use in automated mapping systems.
The map scale from which RWDB2 was derived is normally 1:3,000,000,
but for Europe, Central America, parts of Asia, and parts of the Middle
East the scale was 1:2,000,000. Northeast USSR and the Antarctic are
approximately 1:4,000,000. It is available through the:
