Bennett Says No to
Nuclear Weapons Testing

Bill Would Halt Testing Without Open Public Process, Congressional Vote

Senator Bob Bennett introduced legislation to prevent the resumption of nuclear testing without approval by the Congress, extensive environmental and safety analysis, and open public involvement. The measure requires the appointment of Utah citizens to all related safety boards, additional monitoring stations in any Utah county requesting one, and prompt and open disclosure by the Department of Energy of testing-related activities.

"We must not jeopardize the health and safety of our citizens as we work to protect our national security. Utahns have already paid too high a price," said Senator Bennett.
