Welcome to my webpage!

Since I left in 2001, there have been extraordinary events that have caused anxiety throughout virtually every aspect of our lives. The tragic events of September 11th have caused real fears about the security of our homeland. I plan to use my position on the Governmental Affairs Committee to ensure the new Department of Homeland Security has the tools necessary to best protect this country from further attacks, and provide the best assistance to victims of any potential future attacks. Security, both at home and abroad, must be our primary concern.

However, there are other forms of insecurity that Americans are feeling. With high unemployment, a falling stock market and rising healthcare costs, many in this country are feeling the effects of a weakened economy. I will fight hard to make sure that any tax cuts or economic stimulus plans are targeted to the working families of this country. I will fight to give our seniors help with their prescriptions by pushing hard for a drug benefit guaranteed under Medicare. And I will use my position on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation to bring federal investment to New Jersey in the areas of rail and telecommunications into New Jersey. Amtrak has been neglected over these last two years and I will work to increase the federal government’s investment in to ensure those in New Jersey and across the country can continue to travel by rail.

I have heard from many in my own state about what has been happening to our environment. Clean water and air regulations have been rolled back. The nation’s largest corporate polluters have been allowed to dump their waste into our skies and rivers with virtually no check from the federal government. And New Jersey’s beaches have seen an increase in erosion. I will work every day to re-instate those regulations that keep the big polluters in check and will fight any further attempts by the administration to damage our nation’s environment in the name of corporate profits.

These and many other issues must be addressed and I plan to work with my colleagues, Democrats and Republicans alike, to see we do what the American people expect of us. I welcome your participation in the process, so please feel free to contact me!

Again, thanks for visiting my website.
